MERANAA SCHEME
'Meranaa' Scheme Overview
The ‘Meranaa’ Scheme is designed to provide medical treatment assistance to Maldivian citizens residing in Sri Lanka, India, Malaysia, or the Philippines who hold a valid visa with a minimum duration of six months.
The scheme has been expanded to support Maldivian students and residents abroad, including emergency health assistance and regional cashless services through Aasandha-empanelled healthcare providers, subject to scheme terms and limits.
Key Benefits
· Annual total coverage: MVR 150,000 per participant
· Outpatient (OP) limit: MVR 10,000 per year (part of total)
· Inpatient (IP) coverage: up to MVR 150,000 per year (includes OP)
· Meranaa scheme will cover 65% of the total amount after deducting non-insured items
· Cashless treatment at Aasandha-empanelled providers in India and Sri Lanka
· Maldivians living in India, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia are eligible for cashless inpatient and outpatient services at empanelled hospitals, subject to scheme terms and limits
· Full cashless coverage is provided for medical emergencies treated at empanelled facilities
· Maldivian students residing abroad in countries with empanelled hospitals will receive emergency health assistance under the Aasandha or Meranaa scheme framework
· Reimbursement process available for services in Malaysia, Philippines, India and Sri Lanka
· A specialized reimbursement model will be rolled out for residents in the Philippines
· For emergency situations abroad in non-cashless areas, citizens can seek treatment at their own expense and apply for up to 60% reimbursement upon submitting the required documentation
Eligibility
· Maldivian citizen living in Sri Lanka, India, Malaysia, or the Philippines
· Valid visa with a minimum validity of 6 months, excluding business and medical visa
· Will not be valid if the beneficiary did not upload a valid visa meeting the minimum six (6) months validity requirement for the period in which services were obtained.
· Must complete registration through the Meranaa portal
1. Visit: meranaa.aasandha.mv
2. Complete the Meranaa registration form.
3. Upload required documents:
- Passport copy
- Valid visa (minimum 6 months)
4. Submit the form and verify the registration from the respective High Commission
5. Services can be taken under Meranaa Scheme after approval is provided by Aasandha.
Cashless Services (India & Sri Lanka)
· If you receive treatment at an Aasandha-empanelled provider in India or Sri Lanka, services will be provided cashless subject to scheme terms and limits.
· Maldivians living in India and Sri Lanka are eligible for cashless inpatient and outpatient services at empanelled hospitals, subject to scheme terms and limits.
· For medical emergencies treated at empanelled facilities, full cashless coverage will be provided under the scheme terms.
· Maldivian students residing abroad in countries with empanelled hospitals will receive emergency health assistance under the Aasandha or Meranaa scheme framework.
· Confirm empanelment and pre-authorization requirements with the treating hospital before admission.
Reimbursement (Malaysia, Phillipines and Non-Cashless Cases)
· After treatment, complete the Reimbursement Form (download from the portal).
· A specialized reimbursement model will be rolled out for residents in the Philippines.
· For emergency situations abroad in non-cashless areas, citizens can seek treatment at their own expense and apply for up to 60% reimbursement upon submitting the required documentation.
· Non-emergency situations will continue to follow standard Meranaa protocols.
